Symptoms of Fatigue: Now... Understand Why They Envelop You 24/7

By Dr. Gregory Ellis

The first step in dealing with symptoms of fatigue is an understanding of how our bodies actually work. When we were born, we were endowed with an in-born healing capacity. But, much like a bank account, when withdrawals are made, replenishment must be made.

Symptoms are not the disease. Coughing is not a disease, it's a sypmtom generated by the body to fight against a disease OR any disturbance to normal function. In the philosophy that guides natural healing, symptoms represent the fight of the body in trying to return itself to its natural balance.

Hans Selye stated in his classic book, The Stress of Life, that the body's inflammation response was needed for healing to occur. Yet, medicine has ignored his findings and uses drugs to reduce inflammation such as fever. It's well-known that fever is one of Nature's most powerful weapons in fighting disease. But, we turn it off and whatever was causing the inflammation response remains in our body.

Inflammation is a fight for health and there are five cardinal signs:

* pain * heat * redness * swelling * loss of function

These five aspects of the inflammation response are generated as one becomes afflicted with chronic fatigue.

Why Do So Many People Suffer from Fatigue?

I've talked about coming into life with a certain amount of healing power in your healing bank account. Unfortunately, too many withdrawals have been made from the account and the body can no longer maintain its balance and this is when chronic fatigue sets in.

Chronic fatigue arises because of multiple causes acting simultaneously:

* too much stress * environmental pollutants * lack of exercise * post viral * emotional stress * drug-induced changes in cellular function * diet

This complicated picture of various possible causes is more than medicine can deal with because it's only comfortable with one cause and one disease.

If you're suffering from symptoms of fatigue, there are no drugs for it. Will there ever be? No, because drugs are anti-life and they only suppress symptoms and the symptoms are the body's effort to heal itself.

In alternative thinking, symptoms represent the body's fight for health and therapies must support them. People are now looking for alternative disciplines in their fight against chronic fatigue. This isn't supported by medicine and you have to be careful as there are a lot of for-profit people selling lots of misinformation.

Suppressing symptoms is what we all want, but is it the right direction? That answer is no. But there is another way. By using alternative therapies that actually support the symptoms, you can get rid of the underlying thing that's causing the symptoms and get rid of both at the same time.
